FINANCIAL CONSULTING

Good
Decisions: We assist with making appropriate financial
decisions small or large. These could range from deciding how to
manage quota for the remainder of the year using our Dairy
Decision Model, an MS Excel program
(click
here for sample report), to expansion, changing
commodities, reorganizing the financial and legal structure of
the business, or even transferring the farm to a buyer or your
children.
|
 |
Benchmarks: we
are developing a database of production and financial
benchmarks for dairy farms in Western Canada based on
published information and our customers.
|
 |
Business club: in
the past, dairy business clubs were a popular means of farmers
learn from each other. How do some farms obtain such as high
operating income? In what areas could I improve my cost
control? Beginning in the fall, if there is sufficient
interest, a club will be started.
|
 |
Developing a good
plan: although currently fairly informal, the business
plans required by financial and government institutions
include not only financial cash flows and production
information but must include safety, environmental
stewardship, and food quality assurance. We can assist you
with developing a business plan including cash flows and other
documentation if needed. We have specific experience with
HACCP based food quality assurance programs applied at the
farm level.

 |
Improving financial
control: Restructuring financial and production systems to
better control cash flows and profits are an important area
where, with our practical experience, we can link the barn
changes to the financial statements.
